LIS 636 Foundations of Librarianship

This course  examines the history and present state of librarianship and the ethics, values, and issues of the profession.

The main assignment in this course was a long paper. I chose to focus on teens, technology, and gaming. This assignment allowed me to explore an area of librarianship that I love, working with teens. The focus on technology and gaming was just an added bonus. This is an important field often overlooked and I learned many practices that can be used in my future career. Instructions were as follows:

"For your final assignment, you will submit a paper of 2,000-2,500 words (not including your bibliography) on a topic (of your choice) related to librarianship. The paper will include a brief introduction, a summary, and exploration of key issues, an in-depth examination of two of those key issues, a conclusion, and a full bibliography."
