LIS 634 History of Children's Literature

This course traces the development of children's literature in England and the United States to the early 20th century.

The main assignment in this course was a historical study. For this assignment, I chose to look at feline characters in Victorian literature. I picked this topic because I love this era in literature and I love cats. This assignment gave experience looking at the history of children's literature to notice trends and demystify certain subject matter. Knowing history is important in any field, being able to do this type of research can help my future career assisting with homework or even just knowing appropriate literature suggestions. Instructions were as follows:

"Choose a topic related to the history of children’s literature such as specific theme, author, series, genre, collection, etc.  The topic must be approved in chat or via email. The study is an historical research study.  The sources for the study should be scholarly journal articles, books, relevant scholarly Web sites, or other scholarly sources.  One image is required.  Additional images are not required but are permissible. "
