LIS 511 Collection Development and Management

This course is about the philosophy and principles governing the selection and procurement of all types of library materials, including the use of selection aids and bibliographic sources for developing both print and nonprint collections.

The main assignment in this course was to conduct a community analysis for the community we live in. There was an example given for the structure. This assignment was extremely useful because it gave experience looking at the community and gave ideas about what programs and services the library could potentially offer in order to meet the needs of its patrons.
